Catharine Ecton’s life coaching work with Empty Nesters was recently featured on Washington D.C.’s WTOP live radio.

Ecton helps her clients create healthy barriers before teens leave for college. She said too much interaction with parents can hinder a teen’s acclimation to college life, especially within the first few months after a child leaves.

“Give the child their space,” she said. “It’s also an opportunity to be a role model for your child, to show them that mom and dad miss you, but we have things that we’re doing, too.”
